After almost a decade of being an auditor, Willem Olivier was drawn to becoming an audit, ethics, and risk management technical specialist. His practical experience of working with a variety of audits — including the great, the good, the not-so-good, the big, and the small — as well as a variety of accounting practices gave him a solid foundation to take on his current role.
Olivier works at BDO Australia and is responsible for risk, quality, and ethics. In this non-client facing role, he oversees the design and delivery of technical training and technical consultation. He is an active player within the BDO Global technical teams and has travelled extensively across Australasia and Asia, delivering training covering core content on quality control (ISQC 1), international standards on auditing, and the International Federation of Accountants Code of Ethics. In Australia, Olivier typically trains partners and managers on the ever-changing regulations and requirements for professional accountants and auditors. Globally, he works with a wide range of people, from fresh-faced graduates right up to “been there, done that” partners.

Steven Strammello is a Partner with Crowe LLP, a top 10 public accounting, consulting, and technology firm serving clients across a wide spectrum of industries. Strammello has served the firm for 27 years, and is currently its Chief Risk Officer. He reports to the Chief Executive Officer of the firm, with indirect reporting to the firm’s Audit and Risk Sub-Committee of the board of directors. In his role, Strammello is responsible for managing the strategic risk management processes of the firm. This includes oversight of the general counsel office, accounting professional practice, information security and privacy function, and other risk and compliance programs.
Prior to his current role, Strammello served as the Managing Partner of the Crowe’s Risk Consulting Business Unit. Strammello was responsible for leading and inspiring more than 1,000 risk professionals on a global basis, and assisting clients mature their risk management process to become more honest, more transparent, safer, and more secure. Strammello managed a fiscal budget that generated more than $200 million of global revenue annually with personnel on three continents.
Strammello has been married to his wife Margie for 23 years. They have 3 children: Lucas (20), Cassie (17), and Nate (11). His family lives in Carmel, Indiana. Strammello most enjoys spending time with his family. He also enjoys traveling the world, laughing at comedy, listening to rock music, watching the Colts and Cubs, and learning from others.
